Holiday gifts: 10 Tampa items found on Etsy

We scoured Etsy.com, the online flea market, treasure trove of artsy, crafty, homemade and vintage wares for sale by individual digital “shops,” to find cool items with a Tampa theme.

Whether you’re looking for a unique, last-minute gift, or something for yourself, here are our 10 favorite finds.

Gasparilla posters: These beautiful, two-color prints are part of a project by graphic designers Creative Motion that allows local designers to submit their Gasparilla-themed poster ideas for online voting. Look closely at the 2012 poster and you’ll see the Tampa skyline in the skull’s teeth.

Cigar box guitars and canjos: Riverside Heights resident Collin Thompson makes these functional, and great-looking instruments out of recycled items as a tribute to Tampa’s cigar making history, and to the city’s old blues musicians, many of whom he says started playing on cigar box guitars as their first instrument.

Pirate cat magnet: Tampa artist Gina Stark’s original painting gets turned into a magnet that features a whimsical folk-art, pirate cat who appears to have racked up some beads during Gasparilla.

Cartoony Tampa skyline print: This colorful, original print depicts the city’s skyline in a style similar to the animation on “South Park.” This Etsy shop has lots of other cities in this same style.

Skyway token cufflinks: Decades ago, crossing the Sunshine Skyway Bridge required the purchase of tokens. These cufflinks have been fashioned from a pair of original tokens, complete with an image of the Tampa Bay landmark stamped on them -- a cool way to wear a piece of local history.

Tampa Fad bottle opener: This bottle opener with the classic, cigar box image of a rooster holding a stogie in its beak would make a manly Tampa gift. The seller also has the smoking rooster as a magnet.

Abe Lincoln as Rays fan: We’d like to think if honest Abe were a baseball fan, he’d have the good taste to be a Rays fan. This print makes it happen. If you’re more of a George Washington fan, he’s available too, and if you must, you can get a different team.

Tampa note cards: While there’s certainly no need for hand-written notes in the age of Facebook chats, people still appreciate the extra effort of putting pen to paper once in a while. This stationery is a nice way to do it.

Bucs Super Bowl ring: Slip this replica on your finger and feel like a champion, or just place it on a shelf with other memorabilia, and remember the greatest season in Buccaneers history.

Tampa Theatre print: A throwback photo of the historic downtown theater from the 1960s (the movie on the marquee is “Breakfast at Tiffany’s) was turned into this unique, limited-edition print on cotton ragstock.
