Barry Manilow announced plans to donate a new Yamaha piano to Hillsborough County public schools. Now the legendary singer-songwriter wants you to follow his lead.

Anyone who donates a new or gently used musical instrument between now and Manilow’s Jan. 31 concert at the Forum in Tampa will receive two free tickets to the show.

The drive is part of the Manilow Music Project, which has conducted instrument drives all over the country to assist local schools with their music programs.

“I’m thrilled to be able to help bring the gift of music to these kids,” Manilow said in a news release.

Instruments can be dropped off at the Forum ticket office at 401 Channelside Drive between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. The free tickets will be for a pre-selected seating section.

“Barry Manilow is an icon in the music industry. We thank Barry Manilow and The Manilow Music Project for taking an interest in our students,” Superintendent MaryEllen Elia said in a news release. “Through the public’s donations, this will expand our music programs for more students and put instruments in their hands.”

Tickets for Manilow’s concert are on sale through Ticketmaster outlets for $21.89 to $176.84.
