Comedy, music shows boom in Tampa Bay area

You may think the feast was last week, but area arts venues beg to differ, announcing enough concerts and comedy shows Monday to stave off a hunger to be entertained.

Comedian Amy Schumer, who sold out a show in Tampa earlier this year, returns to the Straz Center on Feb. 19.

Expect a lot of character-driven comedy when Lily Tomlin (April 3) and Dana Carvey (March 7) perform at Tampa Theatre.

Casting Crowns will bring its Thrive tour to the USF Sun Dome on March 28. Art Garfunkel (Feb. 27), Air Supply (April 19), guitar virtuoso Leo Kottke (Jan. 12) and Eddie Money (Jan. 22) will perform separate shows at Clearwater’s refurbished Capitol Theatre.

Willie Nelson, Gladys Knight and Santana each announced concerts at Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall on Jan. 29, May 15 and April 29, respectively.

The “Long Island Medium” will appear at Lakeland Center on Feb. 23.

Ticket prices vary depending on performer and tickets go on sale at the venues on Friday or Saturday. Check the venues’ websites for specifics.
