The Lowry Park Zoo is bringing back its WaZoo beer festival for a 19th year on Aug. 2 at 7:30 p.m., the zoo announced today.
This year’s WaZoo will feature more than 275 varieties of beer produced by 70 breweries from around the world, along with live music on multiple stages by rock, hip-hop and blues fusion band One Mile Final and others.
The zoo will shut down regular operations at 3 p.m. that day to prepare for the after-hours fundraiser, which benefits animal care and education programs at the nonprofit zoo.
Tickets, priced at $65, include a sampling of beers, as well as food from area restaurants. New this year at WaZoo will be food from Big Momma’s Smokehouse BBQ, Cigar City Brewpub, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, Ker’s WingHouse and Sonny’s BBQ.
Animals are not on display at the event, but there will be limited animal encounters with outreach animals at the beginning of the night in the VIP area.
Regular and VIP tickets are on sale now through lowryparkzoo.org/wazoo.
USA Today named Wazoo one of “10 great beer festivals to tap into for some suds in the summer sun” in 2004.
