Live bands to perform on Tampa streetcars

Published:

Tampa’s bright-yellow streetcars will become mobile concert venues in August and September, the TECO Line Streetcar System announced this week.

The Streetcar Live! concert series will feature a live band selected by the Gasparilla Music Festival performing inside an operating streetcar from 7 to 9 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month.

The series begins this week with popular Tampa-based americana and folk rock four-piece, Have Gun Will Travel. Aug. 6 will feature folk-singing twin sisters Good Graeff. Bands for future months will be announced at a later date.

The bands will perform on a streetcar traveling between Centennial Park Station in Ybor City and Whiting Station in downtown.

The fare for the streetcar, including the concert, is $2.50 for a one-way ride.

Officials said the goal of the concert series is to provide a fun way to make people aware of the streetcar system and draw awareness to Tampa’s urban center.
