Last weekend to check out Bay Area Renaissance Fest

Can’t believe the Bay Area Renaissance Festival is celebrating 36 years and I just attended for the first time over the weekend.

If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it, and this weekend is your last chance. The festival closes April 6.

The people-watching alone is the worth the price of admission. Not only are the Renaissance performers dressed up, but many of the antendees are also wearing costumes. (Or are they costumes? Jury’s still out on that.)

Nestled among the trees near MOSI, it’s the perfect location.

Among the things I saw: beautifully painted fairies, a Jack Sparrow lookalike, a guy dressed like a tree (standing in a pot), a lot of elves (ears for sale starting at $17), a mermaid, many Renaissance women and even Hiccup and Astrid from “How to Train Your Dragon.” Did I mention most of these were antendees?

Also saw a guy behind me in line for food wearing the infamous Google Glasses. Overheard him say they cost $1,500.
