St. Pete brewery plans come to a head

ST. PETERSBURG — After years of work and planning, St. Petersburg natives Nathan Stonecipher and Steven Duffy have opened their much-anticipated production microbrewery, Green Bench Brewing Co.

The brewery, located in a renovated 1920s-era warehouse in the Edge District, will brew five beers to start with — an IPA, dry stout, brown ale, wheat and a saison ale — but there are plans for a variety of Belgian style beers.

There’s a tasting room with a window into the 15-barrel brewhouse and an outdoor beer garden with bocce ball, a fire pit and other activities.

Green Bench is located between First Avenue North and Central Avenue at 1133 Baum Ave. It’s open Wednesday through Sunday with weekend hours from noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday.
