Hungry workers in downtown Tampa may need to weather the threat of rain to get out to today’s Food Truck Fiesta, which will welcome a new one: Smoothin & Shaken.
The smoothie bus will offer protein and nonprotein shakes in several flavors. Versions offered in the past included Banana Man, Mango Lemonade and Mudslide, a mix of chocolate, peanut butter and banana. They also sell milkshakes such as Oreo Glory and Strawberry Shortcake.
Other trucks at today’s event include: American Weiner, Burger Culture, Maggie on the Move, Michelle Faedo’s, Hogfather, Oki Doki and Killer Samich.
Today’s food truck gathering is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lykes Gaslight Square Park on Franklin Street, between Madison Street and Kennedy Boulevard.
HART will have a new MetroRapid North-South bus on hand for tours, and the agency will have information on the new service. The route will take riders on a 17-mile run from downtown Tampa to Telecom Park, a mile west of Interstate 75 on Fletcher Avenue, and use traffic signal-changing technology to cut its time by 10 to 15 percent.
