Some beer fans have been waiting years, but New Belgium Brewing Company, makers of Fat Tire, will begin selling its beers in Florida in just a few days.
In the Tampa area, the Colorado brewery's award-winning suds will be available in Publix, Walmart, Total Wine, ABC and Winn-Dixie stores, along with World of Beer, Mellow Mushroom and Brass Tap restaurants and bars starting July 29.
New Belgium is the third largest craft brewer in the U.S., with only Boston Beer Co. (Samuel Adams) and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. selling more beer to Americans, a company spokesperson said. Overall, it's the seventh largest brewer in the U.S.
Among the New Belgium beers that will be available in Florida are Ranger IPA, 1554 Enlightened Black Ale, and the brewer's flagship beer, Fat Tire Amber Ale.
"Florida will be our 32nd state of distribution and it's probably the one we've heard from most often about, 'when are you all going get here?'" New Belgium Florida sales director Jeff Sipes in a news release. "A lot of us have friends and family in state so it's a bit of a homecoming that way. We're excited."
