While some folks around the Tampa Bay area fired up their ovens and readied birds for roasting on Thanksgiving morning, thousands showed up in Clearwater to work up an appetite at the 33rd annual Turkey Trot. While many wore jogging gear, a few wore feathers and fur.

Elsewhere, residents' generosity was on display as they helped feed needy families at Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa. One recipient of a Metropolitan donation, Monique Smith, teamed up with friends to take some food back to the charity.

Occupy Tampa campers at Curtis Hixon Park received tray after tray of meats, dressing, fruit and sandwiches from people who were upset that the Tampa police had confiscated the protesters' food the night before.

And even the beasts feasted at the Florida State Fairgrounds, where Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus elephants gobbled up carrots, pumpkins and apples, with watermelon for dessert.
