PLANT CITY – City Commissioner Bill Dodson has returned to his place at the dais following open heart surgery.
The veteran commissioner said he was feeling better and appreciated all the thoughts and well-wishes of his colleagues and residents.
“I’m very happy to be back,” the 61-year-old commissioner said.
Mayor Mary Mathis and others welcomed him back at Monday’s city commission meeting. He received a round of applause.
Dodson had a heart valve replaced July 11. He had the valve replaced about 15 years ago but it was failing.
Dodson said he lost about 20 pounds and was looking forward to regaining weight.
Dodson has served on the city commission for 11 years, including a term as mayor. He was on the city planning board for 24 years before he was elected to his commission seat.
