The Shops at Silvermill Plaza on Hillsborough Avenue is looking for some love.

Located on a heavily-traveled part of Hillsborough, and near a Target, Silvermill includes the popular LA Fitness and Cody’s Roadside Grill – but there are far more empty lots than would normally be expected.

“I’m not sure why everyone seemed to move out,” said Nicole Rosemarie Conte, director of Sales & Marketing at Buds, Blooms & Beyond. “We want businesses here. It’s in a great place and we don’t know what happened.”

Silvermill, at 11254 W. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, will host an event to show itself off and bring back some community awareness April 27 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. There will be free samples of food and products, demonstrations and plenty of discounts and specials.

Most of the businesses still at Silvermill are cooperating. LA Fitness, which is planning an expansion that may include a pool and basketball court, will be offering a boot camp for kids and other fitness activities. Westshore Pizza will provide free pizza, and RMNU Martial Arts will be offering free demonstrations.

Also, J.J. Smoothy has a buy one, get one free, deal going. SOHO Tanning is giving away free lotion samples, and other businesses such as Buds, Blooms & Beyond, and Bunky’s Barbecue will be participating.

There are six open parcels at Silvermill, but Conte said she thinks people just need to come on out and see why Silvermill is a perfect place for new businesses.

“We hope a lot of people come out and see what Silvermill has to offer,” Conte said. “There’s plenty of free food and demonstrations and it should be fun.”
