Things to do in the Carrollwood area this weekend

Don’t miss ‘Mattress’: Masque Theatre’s production of “Once Upon a Mattress,” the musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea,” wraps up its engagement at the Omar K. Lightfoot Center, 10901 N. 56th St. in Temple Terrace.

A princess is put to the test by a conniving queen who doesn’t think any girl is good enough for her son.

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. today and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for students/seniors/military and $10 for children; go to www.masquetheatre.net.

Back-to-school fun: Bring the whole family for kid-friendly activities at the Back-to-School Bash, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Whole Foods Market Carrollwood, 3802 Northdale Blvd.

Parents can peruse back-to-school deals and free samples while kids enjoy activities from Truck Farm Tampa mobile garden, MOSI and Whole Foods’ own Kid’s Club teachers. The first 100 families receive a free school fun pack.

Frankly my dear ... Tampa Theatre’s Summer Classic Movie Series continues with the 1939 film epic “Gone With The Wind” at 3 p.m.

Set against the backdrop of the Civil War and Reconstruction, it’s the story of a woman’s fall from luxury to poverty and from innocence to an understanding of life’s harsh realities.

Luncheon aids shelters: The public is invited to attend the GFWC Lutz-Land O’ Lakes Woman’s Club’s annual Domestic Violence Luncheon and Benefit, including a mini boutique and flea market, at the Lutz Community Center, 101 First Ave. N.E., Lutz.

The boutique and flea market will open at 10 a.m. and a full-course luncheon for $6 will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds and donated goods go to local shelters. For information, call (813) 855-7254.

Sinbad cinema: Citrus Stadium Park Mall 20 will be turned into a comedy club at 8 p.m. when Fathom Events presents “Sinbad: Make Me Wanna Holla.”

Pre-recorded live at The Fillmore Detroit on Aug. 2, this filmed event features an original stand-up performance by comedy king Sinbad, along with exclusive footage never to be shown again.
