A Tampa woman hit her 79-year-old mother with a phone and used its cord to choke her, Hillsborough County deputies say.

Deputies arrested Michele Helene Villemaire, 51, at her home Sunday.

She faces a count of domestic violence and a count of assault or battery on a person 65 or older.

She and her mother, who live together at 7212 Cypress Lake Drive, were arguing when Villemaire pulled the phone and phone cord off the wall, a criminal arrest affidavit states. Villemaire hit her mother on the left cheek with the phone and struck her on the face with an open right hand.

Then Villemaire wrapped the phone cord around her mother's neck and choked her, according to the affidavit.

She was in Orient Road Jail with no bail set.
