Things to do in the Brandon area this weekend

Spring to Sun City Center: The Eastern Hillsborough Community Band, a 45-piece concert band, presents its final spring concert at 7 p.m. at United Methodist Church of Sun City Center, 1210 Del Web Blvd. W.

The community is invited to “A Spring in Our Step,” a program that includes popular selections from Les Misérables, Carmen and South Pacific. Donation is $5 at the door.

Saget silliness: Veteran comedian Bob Saget performs Friday through Sunday at the Tampa Improv Comedy Theatre & Restaurant, 1600 E. Eighth Ave. in Ybor City. Best known for his family friendly TV shows, Saget is also a wild comedian who just finished filming a new one-hour stand-up special at The Moore Theatre in Seattle.

Show times are 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday, 7:30 and 10 p.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $28 and $30. All shows are for ages 21 and older except 10:30 p.m. Friday, which is for ages 18 and older. For ticket information, call (813) 864-4000 or visit www.improvtampa.com.

Outside sale: The Plant City Downtown Business and Merchants Association hosts its annual spring event, “Spring in the Park,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in McCall Park, located on Drane Street in historic downtown Plant City. Vendors will sell art, antiques, crafts and food, and there will be children’s activities including face painting and a bounce house. Admission and parking are free, and bargains and specials can be found in the merchant shops as well.

Musical fundraiser: Spirit Singers presents a 6 p.m. concert at First United Methodist Church, 303 N. Evers St. in Plant City. The church and Jackson Elementary School will join in this fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

The program features spirituals, folk songs, show tunes and Gospel favorites. The concert ends with a candlelight memorial. A bake sale and refreshments will be available.

Tickets are $5 and available at All A-Bloom Florist, 116 N. Collins St. Tickets at the door are $6. For details, call (813) 685-4000.

Pig surprise: Tampa Theatre’s Family Favorites movie series continues with a screening of the Oscar-winning talking-animal film “Babe,” at 3 p.m. at 711 N. Franklin St. Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for children, and are available at the Tampa Theatre box office, 711 N. Franklin St.
