Sheriff: Valrico woman killed husband during fight

A woman shot and killed her husband, who has a history of domestic violence, during a violent fight at home Sunday in Valrico.

About 10 p.m. Sunday, Robert L. Walker, 65, and Cynthia, his wife, got into a fight inside their home at 3913 Crosstree Lane, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Cynthia Walker, 56, shot her husband at least once and deputies found him deceased when they arrived minutes later. Cynthia Walker who remained at the scene for deputies was temporarily detained for homicide detectives.

She is cooperating and evidence supported her statements, the sheriff’s office said. Detectives also established that Robert Walker had prior arrests for domestic battery against Cynthia Walker. Robert Walker was arrested on a domestic violence charge in 2008 and 2010, according to the sheriff’s website.

Cynthia Walker was released, the sheriff’s office said, after officials consulted with the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office. The case will be reviewed by the State Attorney’s office.

Robert Walker’s body was taken to the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office, which determine the official cause of death.
