Riverview’s Ciccio Cali offers healthy menu items

Published:   |   Updated: March 12, 2014 at 09:26 AM

The just-opened Ciccio Cali restaurant brings more healthy eating options to the table at Winthrop Town Centre, 11230 Sullivan St in Riverview.

“Our California cuisine is fresh, clean and made-to-order at an affordable price,” said Matthew Lanza, a partner in the Ciccio Restaurant Group. “Our atmosphere is casual and our food is served at a quick pace. We offer a variety of choices from our Cali bowls and stir-fries to pizzas and pastas.”

Vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options are available.

The restaurant’s signature dish is the Cali bowl, made with the customer’s choice of proteins, vegetables, sauces and bases, such as yellow, brown or sticky rice; farro; Chinese noodles or spaghetti squash.

“It’s a good, balanced menu,” said Lanza. “We have something for everyone. The kids may want pizza, but mom can still have her spaghetti squash in a Cali bowl.”

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sundays.

Guests order lunch at the counter, then sit at tables and their food is brought to them. From 3 p.m. until closing, full, sit-down, table service is offered. Take-out service is available, too.

Ciccio Cali serves a casual weekend brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with live music starting at 11 a.m., on Saturdays and Sundays.

“We really felt that there was a need for better quality food options in Brandon and believe in helping people live longer by having the right options available,” said Lanza. “We offer both healthy and indulgent items on the menu and let our customers create their own balance.”
