A 47-year-old church youth minister has been accused of sexually battering a young girl more than once over the past few years during Sunday school in Mango.

William A. Richardson II, of 613 Lakewood Drive in Brandon, faces charges of sexual battery of a child and lewd molestation. He was arrested Wednesday at his home and was being held at the Hillsborough County Jail with no bail.

Since 2010, Richardson sexually molested a girl at least once when she was between 9 and 10 years old, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Richardson sexually battered her again when she was 11, according to investigators.

The sheriff’s office was notified of the incidents Oct. 22.

The acts occurred during Sunday school at the First Baptist Church of Mango, 11619 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Seffner, where Richardson is employed as assistant for youth ministries/choir director, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives ask that any additional victims or anyone with information in the case call the sheriff’s office at (813) 247-8200.
