Lions Club brightens Brandon walkways with luminarias

Published:   |   Updated: November 29, 2013 at 08:17 AM

BRANDON — Every year, the Brandon Lions Club sells luminarias to light up sidewalks, driveways and neighborhoods for the holidays.

The club is accepting orders through Dec. 6, for kits that include all the necessary ingredients.

Whether displayed for their sheer beauty or to light Santa Claus’s way on Christmas Eve, or to symbolically guide the Christ child to one’s home, the simple lights make a striking decoration.

Kits are $6.50 apiece. Each has 15 long-burning votive candles, 15 white bags, 15 plastic cups, a bag of sand and instructions. Discounts are available for orders of more than 100 kits. There is free delivery for orders of more than 15 kits to a single neighborhood.

This fundraiser benefits Brandon Lions Charities, which supports ECHO, Brandon Outreach Clinic and programs for the visually impaired, such as Southeastern Guide Dogs, Hillsborough County Schools’ Visually Impaired Program, WUSF Radio Reading Service and Greater Tampa Lions Sight Fund.

To order, call Joel Kuebler, club president, (813) 263-2533, email luminary @brandonlions.org or visit www.brandonlions.org/luminary2.php.
