The boys’ overall champions were the Bloomingdale High School team; Riverview High School’s boys came in second.
The girls’ top spot was won by Wharton High School, and Steinbrenner High School took second place. Brandon High School’s Coach Robert Maestas, cadets from the school’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps and members of the Brandon Lions Club worked together to put on the event. The meet’s namesake, the late Don Bishop (1904-1981), was a history teacher, department head and 1972 Teacher of the Year at Brandon High School. For 15 years, he was the voice of Brandon High School football as the announcer at home games.
