PALMETTO - Manatee County sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a 3-year-old boy who was left in a car for three hours Saturday while his parents were at a funeral.

Kyrese Dwayne Anderson was accidentally left in the car Saturday afternoon while his parents thought he was with a babysitter, authorities said. The parents had driven separately to drop off the boy and their two other children at the babysitter's house in the 2700 block of 5th Avenue before going to the funeral.

The parents left thinking all of the children were inside, authorities said.

When they left the funeral at about 4:20 p.m., they discovered the boy was still in the car and called for an ambulance.

The family is from Lehigh Acres and was in town for the funeral, authorities said.

An autopsy will be performed Monday. No charges have been filed at this time.
