END OF DAYS GLAM: APOCALIPSTICK
The end of the world might seem like unusual theme for a Cocktails and Couture event, but if you consider the epic costumes from the Mad Max movies, it's actually super cool. The fashion event, cleverly named Apocalipstick, takes over the Ritz Ybor on Saturday, with three themed rooms featuring their own craft cocktail menus. Runway shows featuring six designers and end-of-the-world hair and makeup looks by Tribeca Color Salon take place in the Main Theater at 8 and 10 p.m. Live entertainment includes singers, dance troupes, host Anita Waistline and music by Elias Théroux. Attendees are encouraged to dress like the world's about to end — which means fierce! 7-11 p.m. at 1503 E Seventh Ave. $18 advance, $25 day of show, $60 VIP (includes premium seating, early admission, a swag bag and two drink tokens). cocktailsxcouture.com.
POSH INVASION: GASPARILLA PARTY
It's hard to believe that we're merely weeks away from Gasparilla, but it's true. In anticipation, Hyde Park Village is throwing a block party on Saturday. Pirates from Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla will invade the free, family-friendly event, where there will be live music, Gasparilla merchandise, a pirate ship bounce house, balloon animals and games. While you're there, find all your Gasparilla party needs and elements for your outfit at one of the center's fabulous tenants. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 744 S Village Circle, Tampa. hydeparkvillage.com.
GLAMOROUS GALA: WINTER WHITE WONDERLAND
I have to admit, I wasn't aware of the AREAA (Asian Real Estate Association of America), but it seems they know how to have a fashionable party. The Greater Tampa Bay chapter is hosting a Winter White Wonderland Charity Gala on Saturday at the Tampa Garden Club. The networking event will feature food pairings and gift bags from sponsors including Tom Ford Beauty and Neiman Marcus, but the main event is a fashion show featuring designer Tommy Le. Predominantly a pageant designer, Le's gorgeous gowns could be worn by anyone who has a fancy event to attend, like this one. The event celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act and benefits the AREAA Education Foundation. 6-10 p.m. 2629 Bayshore Blvd. $100, $50 for AREAA members at areaa.org/gtb.
