Bulls redshirt freshman S Craig Watts Jr., who totaled five tackles in limited action last fall, announced Tuesday night via social media he's transferring.
"My parents and I have decided it's in the best interest for my growth as a student-athlete and young adult that I transfer from USF," Watts wrote.
Deemed a consensus four-star recruit out of Admiral Farragut, Watts received several-dozen scholarship offers before signing with the Bulls. He redshirted in 2016 and appeared in all 12 games this past season, but never started.
Despite some significant graduations at safety (Devin Abraham, Tajee Fullwood), USF still has a logjam in the secondary, with veterans Jaymon Thomas, Khalid McGee and Nate Ferguson still anchoring the back end. Moreover, five defensive backs signed in February 2017, and three more signed in December.
