The Sarasota Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a 20-year-old dancer with the Sarasota Ballet.

Pedro Pupa, who was from Brazil, died at the hospital after colliding with a delivery truck Wednesday afternoon while riding a bicycle on Bay Shore Road near the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, police said.

Willie G. Burns, 58, of Tampa, didn’t see Pupa as he turned the delivery truck onto a service entrance road leading into the museum and pulled in front of him, police said. Burns has been charged with violation of right of way to a bicyclist.

The investigation is ongoing. Stay with TBO.com for updates.
