Rascal Flatts admits lip synching ACM performance

After days of discussion among its fans, the band Rascal Flatts has admitted lip synching its performance of “Rewind” during the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday night.

The group addressed the controversy about 8:21 p.m. Monday in a tweet, that was later posted to Facebook:

“After having performed several shows earlier in the week, Gary (LeVox) lost his voice,” the group said on its Twitter account.

“So, instead of canceling our commitment to do the show, we made a last minute decision to lip-sync. We’ve never done it before, and we’re obviously not very good at it.

“We look forward to singling live again in the very near future.”

George Strait won his second entertainer of the year at the show – 25 years after he won his first – and Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban teamed up to earn top honors.
