R. Kelly is following up his most high-profile year in some time with his first arena tour since 2011.
The Grammy winner’s “Black Panties” tour is set to stop in Tampa on May 1 at the Forum, with opening support from singer Tamar Braxton.
Tickets, priced at $45, $69, $85 and $115 go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster outlets, the Forum box office or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
The sometimes controversial, self-styled “king of R&B” released his latest album, “Black Panties,” in December 2013, and a follow-up, aptly titled “White Panties,” is scheduled to come out in June.
Kelly also appeared on Lady Gaga’s “Artpop” album last year, and got a lot of attention for up-close and personal performances of “Do What U Want” with Gaga on “Saturday Night Live” and the American Music Awards. The latter featured Gaga and Kelly channeling Marilyn Monroe and a U.S. president in a faux Oval Office.
Tamar Braxton was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2014 for her hit single “Love and War.” She also appears on the reality television series “Braxton Family Rules,” which follows the lives of her mother and four sisters, including platinum-selling singer Toni Braxton.
