Bluegrass musicians and fans of bluegrass are holding a fundraising benefit Saturday for Tom Henderson, the longtime host of “This is Bluegrass” on WMNF radio.

The Central Florida Bluegrass Association’s All-Star Jam for Tom Henderson at Skipper’s Smokehouse is set for 7 p.m. It will feature John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Sawgrass Flats, Little Girl and the Dreadful Snakes, Mike and Joy Beaumont and Friends, and others.

All bluegrass musicians in the area are invited to join in jam sessions between acts, according to Cricket Larson, co-host of the Saturday Morning Bluegrass show on WMNF (88.5 FM).

The public is invited and $10 donations are suggested. All proceeds will go to Henderson who is being treated for a serious heart ailment.

Henderson is a founding member of The Bluegrass Parlor Band and launched “This is Bluegrass” in 1971. It aired monthly on WMNF until his retirement about a month ago.
