PLANT CITY — A city police motorcycle officer who was injured in a Tuesday afternoon crash has been released from the hospital and is “resting comfortably at home,” an agency spokesman said.

Officer Kyle Russell, 27, suffered a broken leg or ankle in the crash at Alexander Street and Mud Lake Road, Police Chief Steve Singletary said. The other driver, Dennis Digamon of Plant City, was not injured, the chief said.

Russell was headed south on Alexander when Digamon pulled from Mud Lake and into his path, police said. The six-year veteran officer was unable to avoid the collision and was thrown from the Victory motorcycle.

Digamon was cited for failure to yield right of way, the police spokesman said.
