WEEKI WACHEE 22
HUDSON — Something going into the 2013 season that Hudson knew it could likely lean on was its big offensive line.
The Cobras let the big boys up front plow the way for 347 yards rushing, en route to a victory against Weeki Wachee on Friday night at Cobra Stadium.
“We went to work this week and let the offensive line know that we go as they go,” Hudson coach Mark Kantor said.
Senior tailback Noah Siegrist (29 carries, 234 yards) had his breakout game and in a big way. Siegrist busted off sprints of 21, 53, 31 and 18 during the first half and also punched in scoring runs of 5 and 1 yards. Hudson (2-1) looked to possibly put the game away early, as Zach Russell (six carries, 79 yards) picked off a Marcus Allen pass and returned inside the Hornets’ 20-yard line. After an incompletion, Nate Binder’s 30-yard field goal attempt would be partially blocked and kept the score at 21-10 Hudson.
Weeki Wachee kept fighting but with just a little more than three minutes, Russell notched his second interception, this time off Hornets QB David Tinch (12 of 25, 152 yards) and helped seal the Cobras’ second victory.
