Most people know Pam Iorio as one of Tampa’s most popular and accomplished politicians. She has been elected as a Hillsborough County commissioner, supervisor of elections and mayor of Tampa. People may not know that she also is a historian with a passion for exploring the lessons of the past. She earned a master’s degree in history at the University of South Florida, where her focus was on civil rights and voting rights.
We’re pleased that Iorio, author of the leadership book “Straightforward: Ways to Live and Lead,” will write a biweekly, history-focused column for The Tampa Tribune’s Sunday Views section. Her “Our Journey” feature will look at people and events, recent and distant, that played key roles in our region’s evolution. It should be a fascinating journey.
