ST. PETERSBURG — A man who was stabbed during a New Year’s Eve fight died on Tuesday, police said.

Rodney Eric Brinson Jr., 28, and Michael Anthony Olive, 56, got into an argument about 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 in the 4700 block of 11th Avenue N, according to St. Petersburg police.

The two men knew each other. Their argument turned violent, police said, and Brinson started stabbing Olive.

Olive was critically injured and underwent surgery at the hospital.

Brinson, who lives at 4710 11th Ave. N, according to jail records, was taken into custody at the scene.

He faces a charge of second-degree murder and was being held Wednesday without bail in the Pinellas County jail.
