A 31-year-old protester was arrested Sunday for carrying a machete in the event zone, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Jason T. Wilson, of 1303 Ocala Road, Apt. 203, Tallahassee, was charged with prohibited items in event zone and resisting arrest without violence.

At 2:15 p.m., deputies saw Wilson walking in the zone with a full-size machete strapped to his leg. Deputies ordered him to stop, but he kept walking, the sheriff's office said.

When deputies caught up to Wilson at 701 East Washington St., he advised them he did not have to stop and that he was allowed to carry whatever he wanted, according to the sheriff's office.

When deputies attempt to physically stop him, Wilson began resisting and had to be restrained, the sheriff's office said.

Wilson was arrested and taken to the sheriff's office.
