SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A state legislative committee has hired a legal team to investigate allegations of wrongdoing by Utah state Attorney General John Swallow.
Utah Rep. Jim Dunnigan announced Friday that the New York-based Mintz Group, attorney Steve Clark of Eden, and Lindquist & Associates of Salt Lake City will handle the probe.
The Utah House has hired attorney Steven Reich of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in New York as special counsel.
Swallow is a first-term Republican. He denies wrongdoing and says he's confident his name will be cleared.
Dunnigan is a Republican from Taylorsville. He chairs a House investigative committee that next meets Sept. 11.
The Mintz Group investigated former three-term Connecticut Gov. John Rowland.
Rowland resigned in 2004 and later pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy and fraud charge.
