SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Gov. Gary Herbert has named the leader of a Louisiana nonprofit association has the new executive director of the state's Department of Human Services.
Herbert's office announced Monday that Ann Silverberg Williamson was the top candidate from a nationwide search to replace Palmer DePaulis, who is retiring from the post.
As president and CEO of the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, Williamson led an advocacy group for the state's nonprofit organizations.
Before joining that organization, she directed Louisiana's Department of Social Services. She has also served as a policy analyst for the governor's office in Louisiana.
Herbert said in a statement that Williamson is a "visionary leader" and a "compassionate and caring person."
Williamson's nomination is subject to approval by the Utah Senate.
