LOS ANGELES – A Southern California insurance company has settled a lawsuit by delivering thousands of dollars in loose change.

An attorney says Adriana’s Insurance dumped 17 buckets of quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies in his office last week as partial payment. Antonio Gallo estimates there’s more than $20,000 worth of coins, although he hasn’t counted it – in fact, he can’t even lift it.

Neither can his client, 76-year-old Andres Carrasco of Los Angeles, who just had a hernia operation.

Carrasco sued in 2012, claiming an insurance agent assaulted him by physically removing him from an office. Gallo says Adriana’s sent a check last week and also left cash.

Carrasco told KNBC-TV he’s disappointed by the company’s treatment.

Adrian’s didn’t immediately comment but promised to release a statement soon.
