It was unhappy hour this afternoon on Interstate 275 after a beer truck spilled its load, closing part of the roadway to traffic for a while, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to FHP, about 3:36 p.m., a Budweiser tractor trailer was southbound on I-275 south of Ashley Drive in the center lane when it had to stop suddenly because of traffic ahead of it.
The load of beer products in the trailer shifted forward, bursting through the front wall of the trailer and spilling onto the road, FHP said. Portions of the southbound lanes were closed for more than an hour until the vehicle and load could be removed.
The truck’s driver, Jeffrey Allan Cork, 53, of Jacksonville received minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital. No charges have been filed.
The incident remains under investigation.
