ATHENS, Ala. (AP) Jury selection is underway in the trial of an Alabama man accused of fatally stabbing his cousin over a pair of DVDs.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/1vGk2y7) a Limestone County judge rejected a motion Monday from 36-year-old Kenny Dewayne Adams to dismiss his trial based on the stand your ground law.

Adams was charged in the death of Yancey Metz Foster, who was stabbed on New Year's Eve in 2012. Authorities have said Foster and Adams argued over a pair of DVDs that Adams was trying to retrieve.

Adams has said he was protecting himself but prosecutors say Adams was the aggressor.

Although the judge rejected Adams' motion to dismiss the case based on the stand your ground law, the defense will still be able to argue the claim during the trial.
