LOS ANGELES (AP) — Composer Ken Thorne, who won a 1966 Oscar for his work on the movie version of the musical "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," has died in Los Angeles. He was 90.
Los Angeles County coroner's Lt. David Smith says Thorne died Wednesday morning.
Thorne conducted, scored or wrote incidental music for dozens of movies and TV shows over a decades-long career, including "Superman II" and "Superman III" in the 1980s.
He contributed to the Grammy-nominated score for the 1965 Beatles comedy, "Help!"
Born in England, Thorne began playing piano at the age of 5 and was a professional musician by 15.
