NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — After 54 years the Newport Folk Festival shows no sign of slowing down.
The iconic music event kicks off again on Friday with performances from Feist, the Old Crow Medicine Show and a dozen other acts.
Tickets for the Saturday and Sunday shows sold out five months ago — the earliest tickets for the main two days of the festival have sold out in its history.
Bands from across the country representing genres including blues, folk, jazz, rock and country are scheduled to appear this year on four stages at historic Fort Adams overlooking Narragansett Bay.
The festival has boasted a "who's-who" of musical stars since it was first held in 1959. It's known as the place where Bob Dylan went electric in 1965.
