JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — An upstart Juneau company is doing its part to help commemorate one of the biggest deals in Hollywood history.
Shawn Woods, owner of NSEW Awards, a glass engraving business that's been in business for 14 months, landed the big project: help personalize 40 palm-size replicas of the Millennium Falcon, Han Solo's spaceship from the "Star Wars" movies.
"It's a beast," Woods told Juneau Empire (http://is.gd/HpTs2Q ). "Detail-wise, and considering the components, it's one of the most intricate orders I've done."
The client is the accounting firm Ernst & Young, which last year helped finalize the purchase of Lucasfilm Ltd. — makers of the six "Star Wars" films — by The Walt Disney Co. for $4.06 billion.
It will take Woods about seven hours to personalize each of the 40 Millennium Falcons in the order, which will be delivered to his Juneau home from a factory in China.
Woods said the fact that the last bit of personalization on the spaceships has a "Made in Alaska" touch brings in a lot of business.
"My clients in New York love it," Woods said. "They just think it's the greatest thing ever."
