GALVESTON, Texas - A Carnival Cruise Lines ship that spent several days adrift in the Gulf of Mexico after an engine fire has been repaired and will resume cruises from Texas.
Company officials say the nearly 900-foot Carnival Triumph departs Thursday from Galveston on a sold-out cruise.
The ship became disabled during a February cruise of the Caribbean. Passengers had to endure cold food, unsanitary conditions and power outages while the vessel was towed to Mobile, Ala.
Carnival spokesman Vance Gulliksen says the Carnival Triumph underwent repairs and returned to Galveston on Tuesday.
The ship can accommodate nearly 3,500 passengers and a crew of about 1,100.
