The agency that promotes Florida business is doubling down on its new logo, even if some women find it sexist.
Enterprise Florida debuted a new state business logo on Jan. 31 showing an orange necktie forming the letter “i” in Florida. The agency coupled it with the tagline, “The Perfect Climate For Business.”
Enterprise Florida figured a necktie is a universal symbol of business, not exclusively masculine. But some women complained that they felt excluded.
An Enterprise Florida spokesman said Wednesday that there have been discussions about the logo but nothing rising to the level of formally reconsidering it.
In fact, on Wednesday the agency sent out a new promotional piece called the “DIY Florida Tie.” It encourages people to cut out an orange paper necktie printed on the promotional piece, hold it up to their neck, snap a photo and email it to Enterprise Florida or share it on one of the agency’s social media sites.
