Area artists have a big day at The Big Draw

RUSKIN – As part of an international day of drawing, the Firehouse Cultural Center recently hosted the 7th annual Big Draw. The free, hands-on community event invited folks of all ages and skill levels to dabble in a variety of artistic mediums, including still life drawing with charcoal, two types of print-making, stop motion animation, drawing with light and collaborative outdoor mural design. Nearly 500 walk, run to remember Austin Bradley Coates

APOLLO BEACH — About 500 caped parents and children turned out for the recent ABC Superhero Fun Run in memory of 4-year-old Austin Bradley Coates, who died in June when a grape lodged in his throat during lunch. The inaugural 1-mile run/walk took place around the lake at the clubhouse in Covington Park. Almost $4,000 was raised for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. More
