Things to do in the Brandon area this weekend

SATURDAY

Succulent sensation: Central; Florida Cactus & Succulent Society hosts its 19th annual Show & Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the USF Botanical Gardens, 12210 USF Pine Drive.

A wide array of cactus and succulents will be on display and for sale, and experts will be on hand to answer questions and offer growing advice. Parking and admission are free.

Food truck traffic: Food trucks flock to the Florida State Fairgrounds today to try and set the Guiness world record for the most food trucks operating at a single location. The 100 Truck Festival runs from noon to 8 p.m. at 4800 U.S. 301 N.

There is live music, entertainment, a kids zone and every conceivable type of food. The Tampa Tribune and TBO.com are sponsors of the event.

Home improvement: The Tampa Home & Garden Show features more than 900 exhibits at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S. Franklin St. Consumers will find everything for their homes; kitchen, baths, windows; doors; interior designers, landscapers, spas, pools and more.

Show hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Discount admission coupons are available at TampaHomeandGardenShow.com.

Bright boats: If you love the winter lighted boat parade, check out the new Labor Day event.

The inaugural Summer Light Up in the Night lighted boat parade and fireworks celebration sets sail at 6 p.m. from Channelside and the Tampa Convention Center. Fireworks follow at 8:30 p.m. and will be visible from locations across the Channelside District.

Money finale: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino closes out its Hard Rock Heatwave summer series with a performance by Eddie Money at 9 p.m. at 5223 Orient Road. Money is best known for his hits “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets to Paradise.”

Tickets are $40 and available at the Hard Rock Store or through Ticketmaster. Doors open one hour prior to the show start time and you must be at least 21 to enter. For details go to www.seminolehardrocktampa.com/cafe/rock.

Aldean delivers: Country musician Jason Aldean performs at 7:30 p.m. at the Amphitheater at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. 301 N.

With more than eight million records sold and 11 No. 1 hits under his belt, Aldean is touring in support of his 2012 album, “Night Train.” Special guests are Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett.
