Numerous chances to take to the stage

It’s a busy time at Mary Jo’s Performing Arts Academy in Carrollwood. Auditions are being held for performances of “The Wizard of Oz” with the Tampa Triple Threat Theater and a classical performance of “The Nutcracker.”

Stanislav Ivanov will provide the artistic direction for “The Nutcracker,” and auditions will be held Saturday at Mary Jo’s Performing Arts Academy.

Girls, ages 3-5, will begin auditions at 9 a.m., followed by girls, 6-7, at 9:45 a.m. For those groups, no previous dance experience is required. Girls ages 8-11 will audition at 10:45 a.m.

There will be an acrobatic audition at 11:45 a.m. and prospects must have an aerial or back handspring. Girls 12 and older begin auditions at 12:45 p.m. and must have at least one year of pointe and bring pointe shoes.

Auditions for boys age 5 and up will start at 1:45 p.m. and no experience is required.

Actors and adults with no previous dance experience can try out at 2:30 p.m.

Girls must bring a solid colored leotard with pink tights and have their hair secured. Boys must bring a solid colored T-shirt with black pants or shorts. Adults need only comfortable clothing. There is a $15 audition fee.

Auditions for “The Wizard of Oz” will also be on Saturday at Mary Jo’s Performing Arts Academy.

Open auditions will be held for anyone between the ages of 5 and 18. Audition times are 1 p.m. for ages 5-7, 1:45 p.m. for ages 8-11 and 2:45 p.m. for kids 12 and up. No previous experience is required and everyone should be prepared to sing at least one song.
