Bucs Q&A: What are your predictions on slot WR, Banks' role?
Have questions about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Send them along to Tribune beat writers Roy Cummings and Ira Kaufman.
Q. Who do you see getting the nod at Slot WR day one, and Would Jonathan Banks be better at nickle or should he be the opposite side of Darrelle Revis as No. 2 cornerback?
- Ashton Clayton, Jacksonville
A. Two very good questions. On the slot receiver issue, I think the Bucs are going to give Kevin Ogletree every chance to win that job. The Bucs know what Tiquan Underwood can do, and they're fine with that, but I think they'd like to get a little more out of the position. My guess is that Ogletree gets the chance to prove he can provide more. As for Banks, the Bucs see him as an outside cover corner. He can play the slot, and he may in the early going as he adjusts to the league, but the Bucs believe Eric Wright is best suited for the slot, so I think you will soon see Banks lining up opposite Revis on the outside and Wright working the slot on nickel downs.
